Qualifications

  • UKCP Registered Psychotherapist 1996 (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy)
  • Full Member AHPP (Association of Humaistic Psychology Practitioners)
  • AHPP Accredited Psychotherapist
  • AHPP Accredited Supervisor
  • Member BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)
  • Graduate of Spectrum Training in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy

    Avril works in accordance with the Codes of Ethics of AHPP and BACP


    Experience

    As well as working with individuals and couples since 1992, Avril has run on-going therapy groups and personal development workshops on various themes.

    She has considerable experience providing short-term couples counselling. This includes working at Pace (Project for Advocacy Counselling and Education), a charity promoting the health and wellbeing of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and trans people, over the past four years.

    From 2000-2005 Avril was a member of AHPP Ethics Committee. She has worked as an examiner for two UKCP Psychotherapy Training Organisations, and is a recognised training therapist for two others.

    Avril has been working as a supervisor since 2002 and offers both individual and small group supervsion. She is a Primary Supervisor for students at Metanoia.
